Jump Recruitment is currently seeking highly motivated and experienced candidates for the position of Quality Assurance Coordinator for our client, Ocean Choice International.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Coordinator will maintain quality and enhancement of programs, documentation, and conduct training of staff. This position will have oversight for assigned vessels and office staff to ensure ongoing compliance of safety standards are continuously maintained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with vessel and office staff to ensure various food safety policies are followed
  • Effectively communicate and provide various summary reports
  • Responsible for maintenance, documentation review, amendments and verification of our Quality Assurance PCP-HACCP programs
  • Ensure compliance with CFIA SFCR/ Act & Regulations, main point of contact for CFIA
  • Perform data entry and data analysis tasks for all key programs used on vessels for production and quality
  • Conduct training of employees – HACCP principles, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Procedures, Company Policies, job duties & SSOP’s
  • Provide support for non-compliance, root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventative measures to prevent a reoccurrence, verification that the action is effective and viable
  • Review of the daily quality reports from our four vessels
  • Direct communication with the Director of Quality Assurance to verify compliance with the product and process specifications
  • Work with the product managers, vessel Operational Manager and on-board Factory Managers, to ensure compliance to our programs, specifications, and policies
  • Provide QA/QC Species summary reports for each landing to the appropriate personnel then communicate summary reports and action plans for issues identified
  • Work on process improvement to the existing process flow, track and trend the information and communicate with management
  • Provide an effective communication link between our vessel Factory manager – Fleet, Product manager, Operations managers and as required directly to customers QA/QC request

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educational background in Food Safety, Food Technology, Science, or related discipline coupled with minimum of five years experience in a related industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, highly organized and flexible to changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Required to work flexible hours including outside the regular workday including occasional travel around the Avalon Peninsula
