Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, techNL, is seeking a Marketing and Communications Lead to join their team for an exciting new project! This is an office-based position in St. John’s, NL for a 24-month contract.

A unique opportunity to help shape the future of Newfoundland and Labrador has arisen and we want you to be part of it! techNL will soon launch a far-reaching initiative designed to greatly bolster opportunities for our province’s technology workforce, with a focus on equity-deserving groups. Critical to this program’s success is an energetic and experienced Marketing and Communications Advisor.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Marketing and Communications Advisor will work closely with the Director, Innovation Programs and other techNL team members. techNL operates in an amazing, fast-paced, cutting-edge sector, and with that comes the opportunity to adapt, learn and grow. The successful candidate will be a creative solutions finder who embraces new ways of thinking, doing and executing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the techNL team and external creative agency to develop an integrated awareness and recruitment campaign including the communications strategy to engage all relevant stakeholders
  • Create and edit thoughtful and on-brand written content for various platforms and events including website posts, social updates, speaking notes, news releases and other assets
  • Oversee agency creative assets and events and communicate to relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and implement the social media strategy
  • Create and publish social media content
  • Ensure a consistent brand image throughout the program
  • Manage media relations together with the Director, Innovation Programs, including the development of media releases and co-ordination of media requests
  • Coordinate special events and manage various program initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, advertising, or an equivalent combination
  • A university degree, in business/commerce or communications or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience working with an agency is a strong asset
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with or in an agency would be an asset
  • Self-starter, pro-active, dynamic and able to execute with minimal supervision
  • Solid capabilities in standard Microsoft office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Designation within a communications or marketing association would be an asset
  • Experience in and commitment to increasing equity, diversity and inclusion in groups such as Indigenous people, women and non-binary people, visible minorities and racialized people and/or people living in rural areas is an asset
