Our client, Clancy’s Kitchen & Bar, Comfort Hotel – St. John’s, have an immediate opening for a part-time 1st Cook position.

THE ROLE:

As a 1st Cook, you will familiarize yourself with our menu, food storage and rotation and are encouraged to embrace your own creativity for specials both at lunch and dinner service. It is crucial to know and understand the necessity of sanitation and hygiene in the kitchen.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking.
  • Cook/check food in various utensils or grillers.
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen and clean all equipment and surfaces at the end of your shift.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly, check quality of ingredients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Expectations:

  • Successful completion of a commercial cooking program or equivalent work experience.
  • Required to complete a food sanitation and handling course.
  • Comply with all sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to lift heavy items and store food orders upon arrival to the hotel kitchen.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision while meeting high performance standards.
  • Must be available to work any scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends.
